This one is in a simple black frame. Boring print, great shows.

And this one is in a nice brown wood frame with an orangish brown matting. It looks nice. I like the print but did not have all that great of a show.

When I first starting getting these posters I stuck to only shows that I had been at. Here are three that I attended that still need to be dropped in a frame.
Saw this show with some family and we were really close. Great show but I'm not crazy about this print, specifically the colors.

I've been told that I wear too much brown so this one should be right up my alley. I guess it is my favorite of the three unframed gig posters of which I was actually in attendance for. Decent show for a decent poster.

Not sure how I got turned onto the Avett Brothers. It was a really chill show, I like their music. I picked up the print and it has grown on me everytime I study it closer. It has some cool layers.

So at this point in my expensive hobby I only really have one print that I actually really like, the WSP Spring 2008 print from Chris Bilheimer. Unfortunately there is exgirlfriend baggage with that print too, so I can't help but rate that print low due to my experience. It was time to lose the cavette of having to actually be at the show and I turned my attention to prints that I actually liked, either for the print or the artists. I found two gig posters that I felt I absolutely 'needed'. Well, there have been countless others that I just did not pull the trigger on.
I really wanted to go to this show, but like a typical stoner I totally spaced on it. In my defense it was in Tulsa and it was on a Sunday. I picked up the print after reading this blog entry by the artist.

Some of the blogs and resource websites that used to find cool prints have examples of other artists material, not necessarily all gig posters. Etsy had some cool stuff too. Well at least I thought it was cool till I got it. Damn impluse buys and now I'm not sure what to do with these two prints.
I was thinking about stapling the Zombie print to a beat up piece of plywood and making it appear as if it were an artifact from a previous zombie invasion. Mule Sniffing at the State Fair? I have yet to find anyone that likes this print. Probably not even worth framing. But I dig the letter press process.
One day, in superior time wasting mode I stumbled on this artist. I shot an email to see if he ever sold his caricatures. Turns out he lived down the street. He whipped this off the printer and charged me next to nothing and hand delivered. Thanks Lance! Thinking a very simple mount on this, no frame, no glass, just a metal backing that might stick out an 1/8" from the print. I'm open to ideas. It is only 8" x 8". I love that it is one of my favorite Wes Anderson characters played by my favorite actor.

Saved the best two for last. They also require the most effort to get them to where I need them to be. First is this print. I really like the artist, Mike Mitchell. He uses a lot of pop culture references I enjoy.

I'm thinking about going with an oval frame and attempting to make it look weathered, more Civil War like. If I can pull it off I think it will be a really cool print.
I'm not an artist. I'm not really sure what the protocol on this next thing. I mean, lets be honesty, I'm totally stealing this guys idea and making one of my own.
I've got the 500 5/8" wood blocks and I am slowly mass producing parts to piece these sculptures together. I'm doing three gators and the guy jumping. I'm going to mount all four sculptures above my french double doors after staining and sealing them. It could turn out to be cool but I definitely bit (no pun intended) off more than I anticipated. Gluing and clamping the parts together so they line up perfectly has been a little harder than I anticipated. I enlisted my brother and father for their knowledge of tools and wood working. I think we have come up with a system that will work.
If I frame and mount all of this stuff I should have a house decorated in my specific pop culture influenced style. Of course if the dating scene in Oklahoma City were to ever turn out a 'keeper' for me I am sure most of this stuff would end up at a garage sale or if I'm lucky a man cave.
